Dhaka, Jan 31: The United States has issued a security alert advising its citizens in Bangladesh to remain vigilant and avoid crowds and large gatherings amid concerns over the security situation in the country.In an advisory, the US Embassy in Dhaka warned that political developments and other events could lead to unrest, and situations that appear peaceful may escalate quickly. American citizens have been asked to stay alert, monitor local news updates, and take necessary precautions while moving in public places.
The alert also urged US nationals to review their personal security plans, maintain a low profile, and exercise caution while travelling. The embassy said consular services may be affected during periods of heightened security.
The advisory comes as Bangladesh witnesses increased political activity, prompting foreign missions to caution their citizens about potential risks.
