Already filled with an ensemble cast, Karthik Subbaraj’s film with Rajinikanth, Petta, will also see theatre artiste and actor Shabeer Kallarakkal playing a pivotal role.
Speaking to mediapersons recently, Shabeer said, “My role is an important one. When this film was announced, I had met the makers for a chance. I later got a call to audition for a particular role. In fact, I had to audition three or four times to get the role. What I really like about them is that they have specific roles in mind for us to audition for, and we know what we have to do to get the role. I finished shooting for my portions in Chennai and Lucknow.”
Shabeer was also very excited that he has combination scenes with all the three actors — Rajini, Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. “These are actors I look up to and I am grateful to Subbaraj for casting me. This was the first time I even got to see Rajini sir in person and to act alongside him was a dream come true. I was introduced to him, and he asked me if my portions had come out well. He’s truly humble, as people say,” said Shabeer.
Praising Vijay Sethupathi, Shabeer said, “Vijay sir went out of his way to offer inputs on how I can better my role. We shared a great rapport. Petta has given me the experience I would have got after working in 10 films.”
