Radical Islamist party Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Citizen Party (NCP) have demanded a referendum to implement the July National Charter before Bangladesh’s 2026 elections, amid escalating political tensions.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday said that the main opposition party BNP and the Jamaat-e-Islami should apologise to nation for the killings and part in the upcoming general elections.
