Chennai: “Buses heading south from Koyambedu bus terminus during Pongal holidays will not pass through Maduravoyal bypass but, instead, take the Outer Ring Road. So, passengers at Perungalathur have to got to Urapakkam bus stand to catch their buses,” said Transport Minister M R Vijayabhaskar.

He said this while opening the special ticket counters for Pongal holidays at Koyambedu bus terminus today. The transport corporations of Tamilnadu have jointly released their draft plan for the upcoming festival days when passengers’ count will be high. “A total of 14,237 buses will be operated from Chennai during Pongal festival days,” he added.
As per the newly-released schedule, for a hassle-free travel experience for commuters, buses heading to Andhra Pradesh will start from Madhavaram bus stand.
Those going to Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, etc., via ECR, will start from K K Nagar bus stand.
Buses bound for Kumbakonam, Thanjavur, via Vikravandi and Panruti, will start from Tambaram MEPZ bus stand while buses to Tiruvannamalai via Tindivanam will begin from Tambaram bus stand.
Those going to Vellore, Arni, Arcot, Tirupattur, Kanchipuram, Cheyyar and Hosur will start from Ponnamallee bus stand.
Buses headed to Myladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Tiruchi, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Shenkottai, Thoothukudi, Tiruchendur, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari , Thiruvananthapuram, Tindivanam, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Panruti, Neyveli, Kallakuruchi, Cuddalore, Karaikudi, Pudukottai, Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Tirupur, Erode, Ooty, Ramanathapuram, Salem, Coimbatore, Ernakulam and Bengaluru will start from Koyambedu bus stand.
