Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami handing over 125 SUVs to Environment and Forest Department offi cials at a function held at the Secretariat in Chennai

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, regarding the Environment and Forests Department, laid the foundation stone for the soon-to-be-built Forest Department head office in Velacheri which will incur a total cost of Rs 30 crore.

As of now, the head office functions in Panagal Maligai and due to space constraint, it will be shifted to the new building.

As part of the package, 125 new SUVs were handed over to the department. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, as part of developments in the Revenue and Disaster Management Departments, opened quarters attached with offices for surveyors built in Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Madurai, Sivaganga, Theni, Ramanathapuram, Krishnagiri and Salem districts, costing of Rs 1,96,00,000, through video-conferencing at the Secretariat Wednesday.

He also handed over appointment orders to 10 candidates who were part of the 1,822 candidates selected by Tamilnadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) as village administrative officers (VAOs) in 2018. The vacancies arose owing to retirement in 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.

As part of developments in Tamilnadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board, he inaugurated the Integrated Drinking Water Scheme for 295 water polluted and 315 roadside neighbourhoods in Nagapattinam district’s Sirkazhi, Kollidam, Sembanarkoil and Mayiladuthurai panchayat union set up at a cost of Rs 1,05,70,00,000. Also, as part of developments in Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB), municipal administrations and panchayats, he inaugurated projects worth Rs 6,83,46,00,000.

The Chief Minister also launched the website for Tamilnadu House in New Delhi which can be used to book accommodation online hereafter.
