“Game Over will be a movie that has brought the best out of me,” says actress Taapsee Pannu.
Directed by Ashwin Saravanan and produced by S Sashikanth, it is a thriller that will hit the screens 14 June. She plays a 31-year-old woman affected by Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSAD) and confined to a wheel chair.
Speaking about the film, Taapsee says, “I spent hours reading the script in order to prepare for the character. I hope that all my efforts don’t go in vain.”
Excerpts from her interview
Q: Why did you accept Game Over?
A: It was a challenging role. For the first time in my career, I will be seen sitting on a wheelchair in half of the film and encounter horrifying situations. So there is a lot new for me in the film and that is the reason I have done it.
Q: Tell us about you character in the movie?
A: My character is a high tech game programmer but she plays vintage games like Mario, Pack Man, etc. She meets with an accident, she develops PTSD and encounters strange things in her life. I encounter a danger and how I come out of it forms the crux. The character was a test of mental, physical abilities and also my acting skills too.
Q: Why such a big gap in Tamil cinema?
A: It is not intentional. I had few commitments in Hindi. Moreover I wasn’t given any offers here (laughs).
Q: Why are you not part of Pink remake in Tamil?
A: I thank all those who appreciated me for my performance in Pink. Had they asked me, I would have loved to reprise the role in Tamil version too. It is a movie to reckon with in my career.
Q: What are your forthcoming projects?
A: Talks are on to share the screen with Jayam Ravi for a movie in Tamil. I am part of couple of Bollywood ventures. I would love to do more films in Kollywood.
