Chennai: Greater Chennai police today mourned the loss of yet another Sub-Inspector to coronavirus.
M Babu (56), a Sub-Inspector of Secretariat Colony police station passed away at Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital (KMC) at 7.15 am. He had been undergoing treatment for Covid-19 for the past two months.
His mother had contracted the virus and his entire family had got the infection and was admitted to KMC. While everyone recovered, Babu continued to be under treatment due to comorbidities.
Babu served at Secretariat Colony police station for the past three-and-a-half years and was in service for 32 years.
Inspector Rajeswari of Secretariat Colony police station said, ‘The loss is huge. The department has missed someone who is unique in several ways. He has left a large void. He was very sincere and speaks to everyone with affection. He was extremely hard-working. At the station, he is someone we all looked upto.’
Babu is survived by his wife and two children.
