Thanjavur: In a tragic incident, an elderly couple was killed in a wall collapse at Elumichankai Palayam village near Kumbakonam in this district of Tamilnadu in the early hours of today.
Sources said the deceased Kuppusamy (70) and his wife Yasoda (65) were fast asleep, when the mud wall, which was compltely drenched due to heavy rains under the influence of Cyclonic Storm ‘Burevi’ collapsed and fell on them.
On being alerted by neighbours, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot, extricated the bodies from the debris and sent it to the government hospital for post-mortem.
