New OTT from Starz promises ‘affordability’


Chennai: With the pandemic changing the way people consume infotainment and with millions using OTT services, Starz, a global streaming platform, has launched ‘Lionsgate Play’ with a view that global content be affordable.

During a virtual conference, president and chief executive officer of Starz, Jeffrey A Hirsch, managing director, Lionsgate South Asia, Rohit Jain spoke about that new app which would make Hollywood content available in multiple Indian languages.

Starting next year, the app would release collaborations with film director Mukesh Bhatt and actor Anil Kapoor.

They would also be creating content with millennial actors like Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff and Sanjana Sanghi.

As of now the app is available at two subscription models, Rs 699 for a year and Rs 99 for a month.
