Chennai: The ruling AIADMK on Thursday welcomed actor Rajinikanth’s decision to enter politics and said if a chance arose there could be a possibility of an alliance with his party.
Speaking to reporters in Theni, AIADMK Coordinator and Tamilnadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said, he welcomed Rajini’s decision to enter politics and start his own party.
Asked about possibility of an alliance with Rajini, he said anything could happen in future.
“If there is a chance, there can be an alliance between the AIADMK and the Rajini’s party”, he added.
Panneerselvam also said the AIADMK’s vote bank will not be affected in view of Rajini’s decision to start a new political party.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister and AIADMK Co-coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami said he would react to Rajini’s decision after going through the full report.
Talking to reporters in Salem, he said he was in a review meeting and did not know what the actor had said.
“It will not be fair to react without knowing about it. I will read it fully and make my comment”, he added.
Senior AIADMK leader and Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar too said Rajini’s decision would not affect the vote bank of the AIADMK.
