Chennai: In a dramatic rescue operation, fire personnel rescued a six-member family, after flood waters entered their home in Oothukadu village near Walajabad.
According to sources, Kanchipuram district has been receiving heavy rains due to cyclones Nivar and Burevi in the previous weeks.
Following this, the dam in Oothukadu village had reached its full capacity and started overflowing, leading to flooding in nearby residential areas.
“Water entered a home in J S Nagar, following which the occupants informed Revenue and Fire departments. Subsequently, a team of fire fighters headed by Karthikeyan, rescued the family of six and brought them out to safety using boats”, sources said.
Those rescued included Venkatesan(69), Rajeshwari(58), Chakravarthi(31), Yamuna(28), Catherine(6) and a four month old.
