Chennai:Ā The cremation of popular Tamil serial actress Chitra (29) who was found dead in a city hotel, took place on Friday.
According to sources, the postmortem of her body was completed at the Kilpauk Hospital, and was later kept at her residence in Kotturpuram for homage.
Several of her industry colleagues paid their last respects, and bid a tearful farewell.
Following this, her mortal remains were taken to the Besant Nagar crematorium.
While the postmortem report has confirmed that this is a case of suicide, an RDO inquiry too has been initiated, since the deceased was married for less than seven years.
Meanwhile, the actressā mother has accused Hemanth, the formerās husband, to have murdered her daughter.
Several fans and others too have expressed their doubts on the death, citing the nail marks and alleged wounds on her face.
Earlier on Wednesday, when news of her death broke out, it was revealed that Chitra had finished shooting at EVP film city and had returned to the hotel in Nazarathpet, where she had been staying with her husband.
At around 2.30 am, she is said to have asked Hemanth to go out, as she wanted to take a bath.
According to him, when she failed to open the door for a long time, he asked for a duplicate key and opened it, and reportedly found her hanging from the fan with a saree.
Chitra who was engaged to Hemanth in August, was due to get married in a few months time.
The actress, who is extremely popular on social media, had rose to fame playing one of the central roles in āPandian Storesā, that is being aired in Star Vijay channel.
