Farmers’ chakka jam across country today, TN ups security

Chennai: A nationwide ‘chakka jam’ will be organised today by farmer unions protesting against the new agricultural laws.

The SKM (Samyukt Kisan Morcha) announced the chakka jam for three hours from 12 pm to 3 pm, saying that farmers would block national and state highways for three hours in protest against the Internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly meted out to them by authorities, and other issues.

However, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be exempted from the jam. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have deployed additional measures, including tightening security and intensifying vigil at the city’s border points, to deal with any situation emerging out of the situation.
