Chennai: After over 3 months, active Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu have fallen below 30,000. The State has reported 2,405 new cases and 49 deaths on Thursday, taking its tally to 25,28,806 and toll to 33,606.
With 3,006 people being discharged after treatment, the total figure touched 24,65,250. The State’s active cases stood at 29,950. The last time the number of active cases was below the 30,000-mark was on 7 April — over three months ago.
The number of deaths registered was 49 and 1,46,665 samples were tested.
Coimbatore had the highest number of cases with 256; Chennai 148 infections and all the other districts had lesser cases, according to Health Department data.
The State capital saw seven deaths due to the disease on Thursday taking the Covid-19 related fatalities to 8,279.
