Review: FIR

Vishnu Vishal who has the knack of picking right scripts plays to the gallery with an interesting story in FIR.

Directed by debutant Manu Anand, the movie bankrolled by VV Studioz is an engaging fare that speaks about terrorism and its impact.

Manu Anand, a former associate of Gautham Vasudev Menon has made sure the movie looks glossy and sound technically backed by some strong writing. Arul Vincent’s camera and Aswath’s massy BGM holds it together. The movie boasts of a huge star cast that includes Reba Monica John, Gautham Menon, Raiza Wilson, Manjima Mohan, Saurav Narayanan among others.

Vishnu Vishal plays a young middle-class youth Irfan who lives a happy life with his mom in Triplicane. A chemical engineer from IIT, he is religious too. But fate drags him into trouble. For no fault of his and circumstantial evidence lands him in the custody of NSA officials for serial blasts.

They mistaken him for most wanted ISIS terror leader. And he has other plans.
Vishnu Vishal is at his best. He shoulders the whole burden and delivers his beat. Robust and energetic, he does a macho act. Also plenty of opportunities for him to showcase his acting skills. Action sits pretty well on him.

Gautham Menon as Nation Security Advisor is tailor-made for the role. He nails it with his body language and fiction. Manjima plays an advocate and have a part to play. Rebecca and Raiza impresses.

Aswath with his racy BGM induces life. And three cheers to Manu for his good writing. A tricky script handled well. He has done enough research and it is reflected well on the movie.

All said, FIR speaks a cause and Vishnu Vishal rocks eventually.
