Why AIADMK announced severing ties with BJP?

In a recent development, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) senior leader, D Jayakumar, announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is no longer in alliance with their party. This revelation has cast a shadow over the previously cordial relations between the two political entities in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing reporters in Chennai, Jayakumar did not mince words when he described the Tamil Nadu BJP chief, Annamalai, as “a little fox howling at the AIADMK, a gang of lions.” These harsh words followed a fresh controversy sparked by Annamalai’s comments regarding former chief minister and Dravidian stalwart C N Annadurai, also known as Arignar Anna, which were not well-received by AIADMK leaders.
Jayakumar emphasized that despite repeated warnings, Annamalai continued to disrespect AIADMK leaders. He challenged Annamalai, stating, “If he has guts, let him contest alone; he will not get more votes than NOTA. What qualification does he have to talk about leaders like Periyar, MGR, Amma, or our leader Edappadi K Palaniswami? Despite several warnings to stop passing comments, he did not listen, and our cadres will no longer remain silent.”
