AIADMK clarifies: No alliance with BJP, Seeks course correction

In a recent turn of events, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has firmly asserted that it has no alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This declaration was made by party spokesperson D Jayakumar on a Sunday, following a visit by a party delegation to the BJP’s national leadership in New Delhi the previous day.
The visit to the BJP’s headquarters in the nation’s capital by an AIADMK delegation had stirred speculation and garnered attention. The purpose of this visit, according to AIADMK representatives, was to seek “a course correction.” However, the party’s public stance remains clear: there is no formal alliance with the BJP.
This clarification comes amidst political discussions and curiosity surrounding the relationship between AIADMK and BJP. While there have been instances of cooperation and coordination between the two parties in the past, the AIADMK’s insistence on maintaining its independence from the BJP is notable.
Furthermore, in response to recent developments, the AIADMK has announced a crucial meeting to be held at its party headquarters in Chennai on Monday. This meeting will gather senior functionaries, Members of Parliament (MPs), and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and is convened by the party’s general secretary, Edappadi K Palaniswami. The agenda and outcomes of this meeting are keenly awaited, as it may shed further light on the party’s direction and strategy.
