TN govt seeks cente’s support to resolve Cauvery dispute: DMK’s Tiruchi Siva


In a significant development, Tiruchi Siva, a member of the Rajya Sabha representing the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), announced on Sunday that the Tamil Nadu government is actively seeking the support of the Central government to amicably settle the long-standing Cauvery river water dispute with the neighboring state of Karnataka. The Cauvery river dispute has been a contentious issue for decades, often leading to tensions and legal battles between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The Supreme Court and the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal have issued various orders and awards over the years to address the allocation of Cauvery river water between the two states. Speaking on the matter, Tiruchi Siva emphasized the Tamil Nadu government’s commitment to resolving the issue through the legal process and by engaging with the Union government and its Jal Shakti Minister. He highlighted the importance of coordination with all relevant stakeholders to find a mutually acceptable solution.
