TN consumed over Rs 467 cr worth liquor in two days this Deepavali


As the Deepavali festivities and festive rush came to an end, the state-owned liquor outlets run by Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC) across the state have minted Rs 467.63 crore during the weekend. On November 11, 2023, Tasmac sold liquor worth Rs.220.85 crore, and on November 12, 2023, the cash cow of the Tamil Nadu government clocked sales of Rs.246.78 crore. A day before the Deepavali festival (November 11), Madurai zone recorded a whopping Rs 52.73 crore in a single day (Saturday) registering the highest sale in the state, followed by Chennai – Rs 48.12 crore, Coimbatore- Rs 40.20 crore, Trichy – Rs 40.02 crore and Salem Rs.39.78 crore. A total of Rs 221 crore worth of liquor was sold in Tamil Nadu on November 11.
