New Delhi, Dec 22: Sanjay Singh achieved a resounding victory in the election for the position of the Wrestling Federation of India president on Thursday, December 21 in New Delhi. Sanjay Singh originally hails from the Jhansi village of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh. As soon as the news of Sanjay being elected as the WFI chief reached his ancestral home, a wave of joy swept across the entire village. People from the surrounding areas started gathering at his home. His neighbors and villagers distributed sweets and set off fireworks at his ancestral residence to express their happiness.
It should be noted that Sanjay Singh, who won the election for the President’s position of the WFI, is considered very close to the outgoing President of WFI and Member of Parliament, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Brij Bhushan was confident in Sanjay Singh’s victory and claimed multiple times before the postponed elections that his close aide would comfortably win the elections.
Sanjay Singh defeated former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Anita Sheoran by 40 votes to 7 in the much-anticipated elections held in New Delhi.
While a joyful atmosphere was observed in Jhansi village following Sanjay Singh’s win, none of the members of his family were present at their ancestral home in Chandauli. Currently, their family is at their home in Varanasi. Nevertheless, the neighbours and other members of the community expressed their happiness by celebrating, distributing sweets.
