Special trains between Tambaram and Nagercoil announced


In response to the anticipated increase in passenger traffic, Southern Railway has announced the operation of special superfast express trains between Tambaram and Nagercoil. This measure aims to accommodate the extra rush of passengers during the weekend.

According to a statement from Southern Railway, Train No. 06053 from Tambaram to Nagercoil will depart Tambaram at 22:20 hrs on Sunday and is scheduled to arrive in Nagercoil at 11:00 hrs the next day. Key stops along the route include Tiruchirapalli at 03:30/03:40, Madurai at 05:45/05:50, and Tirunelveli at 08:35/08:40.

Conversely, Train No. 06054 from Nagercoil to Tambaram will run on Saturday and Monday, departing Nagercoil at 13:20 hrs and reaching Tambaram at 03:00 hrs the following day. This service will also stop at Tirunelveli at 15:00/15:05, Madurai at 17:15/17:20, and Tiruchirapalli at 20:00/20:10.

In addition to these special trains, Southern Railway has announced changes to the composition of the Garib Rath Express. The Dr. MGR Chennai Central – Hazrat Nizamuddin – Dr. MGR Chennai Central Garib Rath Express (Train No. 12611/12612) will transition to a Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) rake, enhancing passenger comfort and safety. Starting from June 15th for departures from Dr. MGR Chennai Central and June 17th for departures from Hazrat Nizamuddin, the train will feature a revised composition of 15 AC three-tier economy coaches and two luggage cum brake vans.
