Durai Murugan’s comments on TASMAC liquor faces criticism

Minister Durai Murugan’s recent statement that people are turning to illicit liquor due to the lack of a ‘kick’ in TASMAC alcohol has sparked widespread condemnation from various quarters.

DMK General Secretary Premalatha expressed her outrage, stating, “Minister Durai Murugan’s remarks have deeply shocked the Dalit community in Kallakurichi, which is mourning the loss of 65 lives due to illicit liquor consumption. His comment in the Legislative Assembly that TASMAC liquor lacks a ‘kick’ is highly condemnable.”

Narayanan Thirupathi, BJP Tamil Nadu Vice President, also criticized the minister, saying, “Minister Durai Murugan claimed that government-sold liquor lacks a ‘kick,’ causing people to turn to illicit liquor. It seems he might suggest adding something to enhance the ‘kick’ in government-sold liquor. Citizens, beware.”

AMMK General Secretary Dhinakaran added to the criticism, pointing out, “Minister Muthusamy has stated that there is no possibility of implementing total prohibition in Tamil Nadu. Minister Durai Murugan’s comment that workers are turning to illicit liquor due to the lack of a ‘kick’ in alcohol is inappropriate for someone in his position.”
