HR&CE Department aims to complete consecration of 2,000 temples by year-end

The Department of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) has announced an ambitious plan to complete the consecration of 2,000 temples by the end of this year. With substantial donations amounting to Rs 979 crores, the department is well on its way to achieving this goal.

So far, the HR&CE department has successfully conducted consecration ceremonies for over 1,800 temples, including many ancient ones. “We have set a target of conducting consecration for 2,000 temples by the end of this year. We have been taking measures to achieve our target,” the Minister informed the State Assembly on the final day of the session, held on Saturday.

The Minister, during the discussion for demand for grants for the year 2024-2025, emphasized the department’s efforts and successes. He highlighted that the department has earned the trust of philanthropists, who have generously donated Rs 979 crore. These donations are aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of various development schemes.

In addition to the consecration efforts, the HR&CE department plans to extend the ‘Oru Kala Puja’ scheme to 1,000 more temples, with an allocation of Rs 25 crore. This scheme aims to support daily rituals and pujas in temples, ensuring they are conducted without interruption.

As part of this initiative, Archagars (priests) of these temples will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000, providing them with financial stability and recognizing their dedicated service.
