Many channels prioritize sensationalism over fair analysis, which can unjustly affect a filmās business,” said Ramesh Babu, a senior member of the association.
Theaters are particularly irked by reviews that feature public feedback shot within their premises. “The energy of a theater audience immediately after a show can be emotional and impulsive. Capturing those raw reactions, often amplified by leading questions from vloggers, doesnāt do justice to the filmmakers’ efforts,” explained Balu, a theater owner from Coimbatore.
However, YouTube reviewers argue that their content is an extension of free speech. Reviewer Aravind Kumar defended the practice, stating, “Audience reactions are authentic and immediate. If filmmakers can promote their movies aggressively before release, why canāt viewers share their opinions after watching them?”
This issue has sparked debate among audiences as well. While some believe instant reviews spoil the experience and deter undecided viewers, others appreciate the accessibility of immediate feedback.
