The Chennai Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts on December 24 and 25 due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
According to a statement issued by the Meteorological Department, the low-pressure area over the central-west Bay of Bengal weakened yesterday evening. It is expected to move west-southwestward and approach the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts by December 24.
Moderate rainfall is likely in some parts of Tamil Nadu from today until December 28. However, heavy rainfall is forecast for Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts on December 24 and 25.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea for the next five days, as wind speeds in the southwest Bay of Bengal region are expected to range from 35 to 55 kmph.
