Following the shocking murder near the Tirunelveli court complex, Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) Shankar Jiwal has ordered the deployment of armed police personnel at courts across the state to enhance security.The incident involved the brutal murder of a man named Mayandi near the Tirunelveli district court premises, which sparked widespread outrage. Taking suo motu cognizance of the case, the Madras High Court expressed strong displeasure over the lack of security, questioning, “What is the police doing about safety measures?”
The daylight murder near the court premises has raised serious concerns about security in judicial complexes, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities.
In response, DGP Shankar Jiwal issued a directive mandating armed police presence at all courts in Tamil Nadu. Sub-Inspectors carrying pistols and other armed police personnel have been tasked with safeguarding court premises.
The order further instructed all relevant police divisions to implement the security measures immediately and submit compliance reports to the state police headquarters.
This move aims to bolster security at judicial complexes and prevent such incidents from recurring. By deploying armed personnel, the Tamil Nadu police intend to reassure the public and the judiciary of their commitment to maintaining law and order.
