The Madras High Court has banned Tamil Nadu government buses from passing through four toll plazas due to unpaid toll fees of ₹276 crore. The toll gates affected are Kappalur, Etturavattam, Salaipudhur, and Nanguneri.
Four private companies managing these tolls said the government did not pay the toll charges for a long time. They had sent several reminders, but got no response.
The court ordered the ban to start from July 10. It also told the Tamil Nadu Police to make sure there is no trouble at these toll gates.
The judge warned the government to clear the dues soon, or more restrictions could follow.
