Gold prices in Chennai began the week on a strong note, recording a sharp increase on Monday. The price of 22-carat ornamental gold rose by ₹320 per sovereign, reaching ₹90,800 per sovereign, while the rate per gram climbed by ₹40, now selling at ₹11,350 per gram. The surge comes in the wake of continued fluctuations in the international bullion market, which have been influencing domestic gold rates. On Saturday (Nov 1), gold had already seen a modest rise of ₹80 per sovereign, trading at ₹90,480 per sovereign, and ₹11,310 per gram. Silver prices too edged up slightly by ₹1 per gram, now retailing at ₹166 per gram. With the latest increase, Chennai’s gold prices have shown steady upward momentum, reflecting the ongoing volatility and uncertainty in global markets.
