Stalin announces 3% DA hike for govt staff

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today announced a three per cent hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees and teachers with effect from July 1. As per the announcement, the DA has been increased from 55 per cent to 58 per cent, an official release said. The government will incur an additional expenditure of Rs 1,829 crore per annum following the hike. The revision will benefit about 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners. The government has also decided to allocate additional funds to extend the benefit to teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners, the release added.
