Senior Congress leader Manickam Tagore has said that it is the duty of party members to accept decisions taken by the leadership, even if they are not personally agreeable.
His remarks come amid ongoing discussions within the Indian National Congress regarding alliance matters and seat-sharing arrangements in Tamil Nadu. Stressing the importance of unity and discipline, Tagore noted that differences of opinion are natural in any democratic organisation, but once the leadership arrives at a decision, it must be respected and implemented collectively.
He emphasised that organisational strength lies in unity and mutual trust, and that internal disagreements should not weaken the party’s larger objectives. According to him, standing together behind the leadership’s call is essential to maintaining stability and focus, especially during crucial political negotiations.
The statement is being seen as a message aimed at party cadres to remain united and avoid public dissent as discussions continue over electoral strategies in the State.
