Dispur, Mar 30
The Indian National Congress in Assam has expelled 15 party members for six years over alleged anti-party activities ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
The decision was approved by state party chief Gaurav Gogoi, citing serious violations of party discipline at a crucial stage of the election process.
The expelled members include leaders from multiple constituencies such as Titabor, Gauripur, Chenga and Katigorah, among others. The party, however, did not disclose specific details of the charges against each individual.
With Assam set to go to polls on April 9, the move is seen as an effort by the Congress to enforce internal discipline and strengthen its organisational structure.
