US President Donald Trump has said that Washington is engaged in talks with Iran, claiming discussions are underway with senior leaders including parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to end the ongoing conflict. He expressed optimism about a possible agreement.
However, Iran has firmly rejected these claims, with Ghalibaf dismissing them as “fake news” and insisting that no direct negotiations with the United States have taken place.
Iranian officials have instead indicated that any communication, if at all, has occurred indirectly through mediators, highlighting deep mistrust between the two sides.
The contrasting narratives come amid escalating tensions, with both diplomacy and military threats unfolding simultaneously.
