Guwahati, May 14:
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday asserted that his government would make no compromise on the security of the state and said every promise made by the BJP-led alliance before the Assembly elections would be implemented “through action, not words”.
Addressing reporters in Guwahati, Sarma said the government’s primary focus would remain on safeguarding Assam’s identity while ensuring rapid development across the state. “We will always speak positively about Assam’s security and Assam’s development. Our responsibility is to ensure that the people of Assam remain safe within the four boundaries of the state and that the flow of development reaches every section of society,” the Chief Minister said.
Sarma added that the reflection of the government’s priorities would be visible in its work during the current term. “You will continue to witness our work in the coming days. Work will speak for itself. Mere words have no value now. The time for speeches and election campaigning is over,” he said.
Referring to the BJP’s election manifesto, the Chief Minister said the government was committed to implementing all promises made to the people. “We will fulfil the commitments made in our manifesto through practical implementation. Our government believes in delivering results on the ground,” he added. In a strong political statement aimed at “Miya” and “fundamentalist” elements, Sarma reiterated that the government would not tolerate activities that threaten Assam’s peace, demographic balance and cultural identity.
