Beijing, June 17: China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi held “comprehensive talks” with Nepalese Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal in Beijing, covering bilateral relations including border management, trade, connectivity, technology transfer and multilateral cooperation.
Khanal, who is on a four-day visit after a trip to India, said both sides reaffirmed commitment to strengthening ties and expanding people-to-people exchanges. Wang said China attaches high importance to Nepal and supports its sovereignty, independence and development path, while pledging deeper cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative in areas such as power grids, highways, border ports and aviation.
He also encouraged Chinese investment in Nepal and called for a better business environment. Khanal thanked China for its support, reiterated Nepal’s commitment to the one-China policy, and opposed any use of its territory against Chinese interests.
He also met senior Chinese officials to discuss investment, tourism and political cooperation, highlighting Nepal’s openness to Chinese development opportunities.
