India has welcomed the deal between the United States and Iran on ceasing hostilities, expressing cautious optimism that the development could contribute to regional stability and global economic recovery. Speaking at a high-level security meeting, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval said the agreement has the potential to improve energy security, ease supply chain disruptions, and ensure smoother movement of goods through critical maritime routes.
Doval highlighted the importance of reopening key global trade corridors, particularly the Strait of Hormuz, which plays a vital role in energy transportation. He noted that reduced tensions in the region could help address shortages in essential commodities such as fertilisers and chemicals, thereby benefiting economies worldwide, including India.
At the same time, Doval cautioned that the global security environment remains highly complex and uncertain. Addressing the meeting of national security advisers from BRICS nations, he pointed out that the world is currently facing multiple challenges, including geopolitical conflicts, economic instability, and rapid technological disruptions.
He warned that emerging threats—especially non-traditional ones—are becoming increasingly difficult to manage. These include cyber threats, advanced technologies, and evolving forms of terrorism that often transcend national borders and outpace conventional security responses.
