Switzerland delivered a composed and clinical performance to defeat Algeria 2–0 in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 32, booking their place in the Round of 16 and ending a decades-long wait for a knockout-stage victory. The Swiss side took control early in the match and never allowed Algeria to settle, showcasing both attacking efficiency and defensive discipline.
The breakthrough came in the 10th minute when young midfielder Johan Manzambi produced a dazzling run before setting up Breel Embolo for the opening goal.
