Chennai, Sept 11:
Tamil Nadu has been allocated additional electricity from the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, providing a boost to the State’s power availability.
The additional allocation comes amid efforts to strengthen the State’s power supply and meet the growing demand for electricity. Kudankulam’s first two units have a combined installed capacity of 2,000 MW, with a substantial share of the generation allocated to Tamil Nadu.
The Central authorities have also been increasing allocations linked to the upcoming Kudankulam units. In October 2025, the Central Electricity Authority approved a 50-MW allocation from Units 3 and 4 for their commissioning requirements.
The latest additional allocation is expected to help Tamil Nadu manage its power requirements, particularly as electricity demand continues to rise across the State.
