
Chennai: CMWSSB managing director G Prakash inspected and reviewed the ongoing construction work of tertiary treated reverse osmosis (TTRO) plant at
Kodungaiyur on Tuesday.
Apart from Kodungaiyur, another plant at Koyambedu is expected to be opened by April 2019. Both plants have capacity to treat 45 mld of water.
When treated, sewage can be used for industrial purposes.
Water from the TTRO plant will be supplied to industries located at Manali and Minjur area, North Chennai Thermal Power Station, Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Kamarajar Port, TPL and Indian Petrons, a press release said.
The officials also instructed that the work has to be completed as per the schedule on or before April 2019.
CMWSSB executive director, Prabhu Shankar, superintending engineer, A Malaichamy, and other engineers were present during the inspection.
