Kerala, God’s Own Country, is in a shambles. The heavy downpour meant floods everywhere and several districts were marooned. The rain has stopped and the pain has aggravated. The process of rebuilding takes centrestage. A lot has to be done to bring the State back to its best health. It might take even weeks and months to get things going. The State government is taking efforts towards it.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had appealed to everyone to contribute generously towards flood relief. The stories of the sufferings have moved noble souls across the country to contribute their most. Reports of young children giving money from their piggy banks, women donating their jewels, sexual workers contributing their day’s income are touching tales. Besides celebrities from all walks of lives, these common men chipping in with their best goes to show that humanity is still not lost.
Brothers and sisters of Kerala don’t need sympathy now. They need concrete measures to get back to normal life. India has seen major natural disasters. But thanks to grit and determination, people have bounced back to normalcy. Kerala will soon be back to its glory.
