Chennai: The #Touchofcare campaign’s second edition, run by Vicks, reveals UNICEF data that can sadden: It shows that about 26 million orphans exist across India, but only about 42 children with disabilities found a home to live in.

Vicks’ second edition of #Touchofcare campaign shows a video about Nisha, a young girl who has Ichthyosis, a very rare genetic skin condition.

The video depicts how Nisha is taken care of by her loving parents, Aloma and David Lobo.

The second edition was screened in Mumbai and telecast live to other major cities across India including Chennai on Wednesday. During the launch, Aloma said, “As parents, we are very happy that Nisha’s story is part of #Touchofcare campaign. We really hope that this video inspires millions of people, that they are motivated to give unconditional love and care to vulnerable people who need it the most.”

In a press release, Vicks India country marketing manager Ritu Mittal said, “The second edition of the Vicks #Touchofcare campaign continues to spread the idea of family beyond biological bonds. The first edition moved millions across the globe. We are confident that Nisha’s story will have a similar impact on every person who sees the film.”

Interacting with News Today through video conference, transgender activist Gauri Sawant, who appeared in the first edition of the Vicks campaign, said, “I am proud of being a transgender. I am happy that the #Touchofcare has given a platform for transgenders. Today, I have come out of the way and I am now part of a bigger movement. Vicks helped me reach this stage.”

Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who was also invited for the campaign’s screening, said, “I am very happy to be a part of this campaign. We normally talk about cricket or Bollywood stars but I believe people like Nisha, Aloma and David Lobo are the true heroes. They are the ones who make the country move forward.”

Actresses Soha Ali Khan and Shreya Saran were present during the special screening of the campaign video in Mumbai.
