Actor Rajinikanth today said that his upcoming film ‘2.0’ might have been delayed, but when it comes it will end up a sure hit.

Speaking at a grand trailer launch event in the city, Rajinikanth in a sarcastic tone, said, “I am not speaking about my politics. It is about ‘2.0’. It needed time and people have kept faith on it and waited for it. It will end up as a blockbuster.”

Heaping laurels on director Shankar, Rajinikanth said, “Shankar is a wonderful filmmaker. He raised the level of Tamil cinema and now with ‘2.0’, he has challenged the international standards.”

“When Shankar narrated the story to me, I did not ask him how his imagination can be brought alive on screen. I worked with him before and know he is capable of anything. He dreams big and executes them to perfection. He never fails to meet expectations. He is a great magician,” said Rajinikanth.

Calling him to be the Indian version of James Cameron and Steven Spielberg, Rajinikanth, said, “Working with Shankar was a delight.”

‘Filmmakers like Shankar, S S Rajamouli and Rajkumar Hirani are rich treasures and we should take care of them well’.

Stating that producer Subaskaran was a great human being, the actor said, ‘He had invested over Rs 550 crore for the project. When I feel sick during the shoot and even thought of pulling out of the project, he met me personally and said that my health was the priority. He floored me saying that he would wait for years for me to come back and complete the movie. I found a great friend in him.”

“Akshay Kumar’s hard work was amazing. I saw him in the shoot with make-up, I was surprised. His dedication deserves accolades,” Rajini added.

Stating that even ‘2.0’ has been made on a huge budget and it involves top technicians, he added: I am confident these factors will give huge success for the film.

The movie is a thriller, entertainer and above all carries an international message, he said.

Earlier filmmaker Shankar, actor Akshay Kumar, music composer A R Rahman and actress Amy Jackson spoke.

MESSAGE FROM KAMAL

Actor Kamal Haasan today issued an audio message and congratulated Rajinikanth and Shankar for their efforts in ‘2.0’ and wished all the very best for its success.

While addressing the gathering, Rajinikanth said that he is pretty confident that Shankar and Kamal Haasan would render a blockbuster in Indian 2, that is going on floors very shortly.
