Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan today said Cyclone Gaja should be announced as an L3 level disaster, which is the highest one.

“The alertness shown by the government before the cyclone was lacking in carrying out relief work which reflects in the form of anger from the victims,” he said, speaking to mediapersons at Tiruchi.

Kamal further said relief material worth Rs 60 lakh had already been distributed by his party cadres and he was going to meet people with relief material worth another Rs 1.2 crore.

The actor-politician today visited the Gaja-hit areas in Trichy and Thanjavur. He met drivers of the vehicles carrying relief materials in Thanjavur. He explained to them the do’s and don’ts and how important it is to make sure the relief material reached the people safely.
