Welfare associations, vendors and residents of ALS Nagar, Madambakkam, on the request of Madambakkam Town Panchayat Executive Officer Loganathan, donated essential items like rice, milk powder, bed sheets, new clothes, candles, sanitary items, stainless steel plates and the like to Madambakkam Panchayat, which was later sent to the cyclone-hit delta area.
Similarly, relief materials worth Rs 14 lakh were sent from Sembakkam, Tambaram and Pallavaram Municipalities.
A Sembakkam official said the items included groceries, vegetables, mats, candles and water bottles.
