
Chennai: The Regional English Language Office of the US Embassy in New Delhi and the US Consulate General in Chennai have awarded an English Access Microscholarship Programme grant to the Loyola College Society, India.
Through the Access Programme, 75 talented undergraduate students will enhance their English language proficiency and leadership skills and gain the ability to compete for future educational, career, and exchange opportunities, a press release said.
Moulik Berkana, Cultural Affairs Officer at the US Consulate General in Chennai, said, “The Access Programme will not only provide students with training in English-language communication, but will also include educational field trips, life-skills development, and will encourage students to become community leaders.”
Francis Jayapathy, Rector and vice-president of Loyola College Society said, “In this globalised world, learning English is not just about enhancing one’s communication skill. Far more significantly, it helps one to enter into a new world, widening one’s perspectives and ways of imagining the world.”
