Though Bharathi Salai in Ramapuram is all set to get a fresh look in some days, the road works being carried out and encroachment of new shops at this stretch and Thiruvalluvar Salai, pose challenges to the drivers and motorists leading to heavy traffic jam in the area.
“People use road sides to park vehicles. The shops and mobile carts occupying roads by putting up shade sheets and their shop material makes traffic even worse,” said A Paul Dhas, president of Ramapuram Social Welfare Federation.
“Pavement should be laid on either sides of these stretches and the narrow entrance towards the same from Arasamaram junction has to be cleared from shops for easy vehicle movements.” he suggested.
“The highways department, corporation, and police department should join hands together to take appropriate measures to resolve this issue,” he added while mentioning about the extra loading and unloading time of shops that create congestion in roads.
“Fixing on no parking and other sign boards, clearing temporary shops with mobile cart, along with police department assistance can also resolve traffic blocks,” he mentioned.
