Alwarthirunagar bus stop on Arcot Road links Porur and Kodambakkam. Over 40 buses ply via this stop that sees not less than 100 commuters per hour. But what worries one is the lack of basic amenities such as seats and roof for the shelter.
“Elders and children wait for the buses here. They have to bear the heat from the hot sun. The situation becomes worse during rainy days,” says Ashika Caroline, a regular at this bus stop.
“We have been demanding a shelter for a long time. The authorities should take immediate steps to provide the basic amenities,” says Smeetha, another resident of the area.
