What is the most common problem one face in a city today? Ask any lower middle class family head, s/he would say the struggle to search for a house to rent is the biggest ordeal.

And that too after being given an ultimatum to vacate house by its owner, things become very difficult. This perhaps inspired director Chezhiyan to come up with a movie.

An emotional drama with right elements to engross you, To let has already made a name for itself for it swept awards in several international film festivals.

The movie revolves around a family of three- Ilango (Santhosh Sreeram), an aspiring filmmaker, his wife Amudha (Sheela Rajkumar) and their son Siddharth (Dharun).

Thanks to those who don’t worry about spending more, especially those in IT sector, the family finds it difficult to rent a house of their choice at affordable price.

The problems that a middle class family face in searching for their house make up the film. Though a tough subject to be made as a movie, Chezhiyan seems to have done the home work well. At no place, it goes preachy and teary saga.

The artistes have involved themselves well with the script to deliver a strong show. Santhosh Sreeram and Sheela Rajkumar have given their best. They elevate the content with a subtle performance. Three cheers to Chezhiyan, a cinematographer himself, for narrating the story through splendid visuals.

To let is refreshingly different from the run-of-the-mill stuff in Tamil cinema. Agony and frustration of those searching for a house for rent have been conveyed through brilliant cinema language.
