Chennai: “What if schools run without teachers? What if death deserves dignity? What if you never stopped learning?” These are some of the questions that will be discussed at length by a string of speakers in the upcoming sixth edition of TEDxChennai on 10 March.

TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a non-profit organisation where speakers gather at a place to deliver short powerful talks and share ‘ideas worth spreading.’ TEDx, on the other hand, is a self-organised event.

Exciting speakers
Since 2009, TEDxChennai has conducted about five major editions. For the upcoming edition, the organisers have brought in exciting line of speakers including educator and founder of Project DEFY, Abhijit Sinha, National Geographic explorer and ecologist, Anusha Shankar, founder and CEO of Freshworks, Girish Mathurbootham, filmmaker Sruti Harihara Subramaniam, among others.

How do they do it?
J Rajiv Choudhry, advisor and moderator of TEDxChennai on Tuesday explained how the event is organised. “It is a six month process. Once the speakers are identified and their ideas are shared, the base team share this data to senior advisors and moderators. This time we have also asked speakers to send us their talk videos.”

He also added, “The day before the event, we also do a one-on-one training with the speakers. What you see during the event is actually the end result of the speech they have been given training for six months. We offer them ideas and advice. It’s wonderful to work with young people and it energizes us. It gives us a lot of freshness in our thought process.”
