Amaravati: Attacking the Centre for the poll schedule, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu yesterday alleged that elections in the State were being held in the first phase on 11 April only to push him into a crisis.
Speaking at a press conference, Naidu referring to the Centre said they thought that he would be unprepared for the coming elections if less time was given. They wanted to push him into a crisis but then he had converted it into an opportunity, he claimed.
On the prospective alliance of parties at the national level, the TDP chief said a meeting to discuss the issue with non-BJP parties would be held in New Delhi tomorrow.
“At the national level, we all thought as a coalition to work for the future of the country. But there are compulsions in different states. There is a national compulsion and there is a state-specific compulsion politically. We will weigh this and discuss this at our meeting to reach an understanding,” he stated.
The parties would discuss how to cooperate with each other pre-election and post-election and draft an action plan accordingly, he added. He further spoke about his party’s fate in Telangana. He said his priority was Andhra Pradesh. They have reached the crossroads and TDPs victory was a historic necessity or else they would face a lot of problems.
The election schedule was announced on Sunday and according to reports, over 3.71 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise for electing 25 Lok Sabha members and 175 members of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly in the coming polls. This is the first after the state was bifurcated to create Telangana in 2014.
