Fire guts 11 vehicles parked in a mechanic shed in Chennai

Chennai: As many as 11 vehicles caught fire at a mechanic shed at Golden George Nagar, Mogappair East, in the wee hours of today.

According to the police, at 12.35 am fire tenders from Kilpauk, CMBT and Thirumangalam were pressed into service.

It is said seven cars, one two-wheeler and a TATA Ace share auto were completely gutted in the car. Two other vehicles were damaged near the bonnet.

The police are yet to ascertain the cause of fire.

A police source said, “We examined the footage and we are sure that the fire was not started by anyone. A short circuit in the shed is a possibility. We are treating it as an accidental fire.”

J J Nagar police are inquiring the case.
